Dear Betty Jane Families, 3/25/22
I am happy to say that we made it through the long cold winter months and are headed into spring with a sense of accomplishment. I am so pleased to see the progress that our students have made thus far this school year. We have seen amazing growth with our young learners both academically and socially. Their success has only been possible with the support and encouragement from you. As we head into the spring months, I would like to take a moment to share a few more events that will be happening during our final push of this academic year.
Beginning the last week of March into May, students in grades 3-5 will be taking their Ohio’s State Tests. During this long testing window, we will be encouraging all students to get a good night’s sleep and be prepared for school on time each day. The information derived from these tests is a strong measure to monitor the growth and progress that our young scholars have made this year. Similarly, our kindergarten through second grade scholars will also be taking their year end tests in May to measure their growth. We are asking that parents communicate with their child’s teacher when planning appointments or trips during the upcoming weeks. This way we are able to work together to schedule testing needs or make up assessments. In order to promote positive attendance, we will be planning contests where students can earn some amazing prizes for their diligence in coming to school on time daily.
In addition to attendance prizes, we will also be holding some fun activities to promote positive citizenship, friendship, kindness, and community building activities. This program is called Be Kind 330. Students have already begun working with our guidance counselor on activities as part of this program. It is hoped that these fun activities and incentives will promote a positive climate and culture in our building, and that our children will feel rewarded as responsible Betty Jane Family Members who come to school each day and do their job as scholars and friends. As we plan fun spring activities such as picnics and field day activities, please continue to check your ClassTag or ClassDojo messages. If you have any questions about upcoming activities or dates, please do not hesitate to contact the school at (330)761-2602. Once again, I thank you for your support so far this school year, and I look forward to sharing the year end results of our students’ progress with you. Please stay safe, stay kind, and enjoy the great moments ahead!
Sincerely,
Jennifer Lucas
