Betty Jane CLC 2023-2024 Parent-School Compact and Plan

Betty Jane Community CLC Parent-School Compact and Plan 2023-2024 School Year 

Betty Jane CLC, and the parents/guardians of the students participating in activities, services, and programs funded by Title I, Part A, of the Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), agree that this compact outlines how the families, the entire school staff, and the students will share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement and the means by which the school and families will build and develop a partnership that will help children achieve Ohio’s high standards. 

Section I. Betty Jane CLC will: 

1. Provide high-quality curriculum and instruction in a supportive and effective learning environment that enables the participating children to meet Ohio’s student academic achievement standards. 

2. Hold parent-teacher conferences on September 28, 2023, November 30, 2023 and February 15, 2024. during which this compact will be discussed as it relates to the individual child’s achievement. 

3. Provide parents/guardians with frequent reports on their children’s progress through interim reports and report cards. 

4. Provide parents/guardians reasonable access to staff. Please call (330)761-2602 to contact the staff through the office. Our staff will respond in a timely manner within 24 hours. 

5. Provide family members opportunities to volunteer and participate in their child’s class, and to observe classroom activities. All parents and guardians are encouraged to join PTA. 

Section II. The parent/guardian agrees to: 

1. Be aware of what my child is learning by reviewing returned papers and helping with assigned homework. 

2. Ensure that the student regularly arrives at the designated time and attends class.

3. Report absence or tardiness by 9:00 AM. 

4. Attend conferences and programs as much as possible. 

5. Provide basic school supplies as identified by the classroom teacher. 

6. Read all notices from Betty Jane CLC or Akron Public Schools and respond, as appropriate. 

Section III. The student agrees to: 

1. Maintain a level of academic performance that meets or surpasses expectations as established by Betty Jane CLC. 

2. Maintain a level of conduct in school that meets or surpasses expectations as established by Betty Jane CLC. 

3. Be properly attired according to the dress code policy as established by the Board of Education.

4. Respect others and myself in accordance with the Akron Public Schools District Code of Student Behavior.

Betty Jane Community Learning Center Family Engagement Plan 

Betty Jane CLC will: 

1. Involve families in the planning, review, and improvement of the school’s family engagement policy, in an organized, ongoing, and timely way. 

2. Involve families in the joint development of any schoolwide program plan by: 

● Including family members on the SIP team 

● Posting open positions on the family bulletin board and in the school newsletter. 

3. Hold an annual meeting to inform families of the school’s participation in Title I, Part A. The school will convene the meeting at a time convenient for families and will offer a flexible number of additional family engagement meetings, so that as many family members as possible are able to attend. The school will invite all families to this meeting, and will encourage them to attend.

4. Provide information to families of participating students in an understandable and uniform manner, including alternative formats upon request.

5. Provide to families a description and explanation of the school’s curriculum, the forms of academic assessment used to measure children’s progress, and the proficiency levels students are expected to meet.

6. At the request of parents/guardians, provide opportunities to participate in decisions about the education of their children. The school will respond to any such suggestions as soon as practicably possible.

7. Provide parents/guardians with an individual student report about their child’s performance on state assessments.
