Principal's Message

October 2020

Dear Betty Jane Families,

I wish to extend my most sincere gratitude to our parents and children care providers for their hard work and dedication by learning technology and supporting our children in using it for instruction. I honestly believe that we are way ahead of many in this respect, because we are on target in our lesson teaching timelines, and students are receiving the grade level instruction in a format with communication that is as close to in person as possible. As students are able to engage with their teachers and peers, we have had opportunities to form strong relationships and bonds in classrooms.  None of this would have been possible without your support and the strong team that has been created between daytime caregivers and teachers. So please congratulate yourselves or give grandma, aunt or uncle, whoever works with your child daily, a pat on the back and a big thank you from us. Please know how much you are appreciated!

I would like to also ask parents if they could help me in recognizing our online scholars at Betty Jane.  While students are hard at work in front of their computers you get to see their animation and energy. I would like parents to share a picture of their child while learning on their computer so we may post it on our website. I think boys and girls would be excited if they log on to the Betty Jane website and see their pictures. It will also make teachers and other building staff feel positive with their work by seeing students happy. Please hold your phone sideways when you take the picture--the landscape orientation shows up best on our website. Please make sure to keep in mind that by providing the picture to us, you are agreeing that we may use it on our website.  Pictures may be emailed to jlucas@apslearns.org, or jschmidt@apslearns.org

Last Friday I sent out an email to parents to take a survey and let the Board of Education hear your thoughts on returning to the school building again. This survey was sent to your personal email. Please take the survey so you will be a voice in their decision. If you missed the email, please click on the survey link. The survey is only open until October 9th and I want to make sure the opinions from our Ellet community are heard.

If you have any questions or concerns, please know that teachers are just a call, text, or email away. You may also contact the school office at our new number (330)761-2602. Please take care and stay well!

Sincerely,

Ms. Lucas

CURT- Can you please proofread for me and make any needed revisions?

Hello Betty Jane Families! It looks like we are heading into the winter season with vigor! This is just a reminder for families to use the loop if the traffic is to the end of the curb which runs along the front of the school, or if there are folks who are already waiting in line from the other direction to drop their child off. I just want to ensure that there are no traffic backups into Darrow Road which may prohibit any of our Betty Jane Family Members from entering into our lot safely. This is especially a concern as road conditions become icy and stopping distances are affected. The safety and well being of our entire Batty Jane family is our top concern.

Also, just a reminder regarding dress down days. Every Friday is school spirit-wear day. This means that students may wear Betty Jane/ Ellet apparel but they must also must wear uniform bottoms.  Spirit day Fridays are not a full dress down day because students must still wear uniform bottoms. I thank you all for working with us on a daily basis to provide our children with the very best educational opportunities. Your continual reinforcement at home on the skills students obtain at school are necessary to continue showing increased academic success.
